Darren Aronofsky was born in 1969 Brooklyn, New York. Darren has always been artistic and loved classic movies and spent his teenage years doing graffiti art. He then went onto study at Harvard University to study film (live-actions and animation). Darren has won several film awards for his senior thesis film "Supermarket Sweep". This helped him become a National Student Academy Award finalist. 5 years later (February, 1996), Darren then started to create a concept for Pi (1998). This received great reactions from friends and family around Darren which led him to begin the production. He then went on to further successes such as 'Requiem for a Dream' (2000).
Darren's film 'Pi' is about a 'paranoid mathematician who searches for a key number that will unlock the universal patterns found in nature'. Although the film itself has nothing related to my project his editing skills and camera work are very clever in themselves. The weirdness of the camera work is very exciting and eye opening as theres lots of things being shown at different paces. I especially like the trailer for the film as this itself gives an amazing view of what the film will look like. Im also keen on how his footage has the black and white effect. Although I would like some colour to be included in my film, I also do really like the black and white effect as although it looks very dull it also helps the footage become more interesting.
